Shusheng Wang is a professor of Cell and Molecular Biology and Ophthalmology at Tulane University. Besides serving as president of the Association of Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AOPT), he is also the immediate past president of the Chinese American Society for Vision Research (CASVR), and the treasurer of the Federation of Asian Professor Associations (FAPA). His research is focused on studying the biological processes involved in age-related macular degeneration (AMD), including angiogenesis, fibrosis, cell death and senescence. He has expertise in noncoding RNA research, and his research has led to the discovery of potential new drug candidates and targets for AMD therapy. He has published over 50 peer-reviewed publications in journals including Developmental Cell, PNAS, Molecular Therapy, and has filed several patents based on his research. He has served at NIH, DOD and AHA study sections, and as editor or associate editors for many journals.
