17^th AOPT Biennial Meeting

Invitation from the President

The 17th Biennial Meeting of the Association for Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AOPT) will be held from September 23rd to 26th, 2027 in New Orleans. Co-hosted by a distinguished group of leaders from Tulane University and Louisiana State University (LSU), the theme of the conference is “The Crescent City Connection: Bridging Ocular Science and Therapeutic Advances”.

The Association for Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics is a global, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Our mission is to serve as a global forum and network for the dissemination and exchange of scientific knowledge on treatments of eye diseases, spanning basic and clinical ocular pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, drug delivery, translational research, and safety. Our diverse, multi-national membership is composed of preclinical and clinical scientists, students, and healthcare professionals from academic institutions, pharmaceutical and biotech industries, device companies, and private practice.

This conference brings together individuals at the forefront of scientific advancement related to ocular pharmacology and therapeutics. We expect approximately 300 participants, creating an intimate, highly focused environment designed to bridge basic research and industrial development. Notably, approximately 50% of our attendees will be trainees, including graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and clinical residents. This presents a unique opportunity for industry partners to recruit emerging talent and directly engage in mentoring the next generation of ophthalmic researchers.

The meeting agenda is packed with exciting new information set across 13 scientific platform sessions. Our Opening Keynote Speaker is Dr. Jeffrey Goldberg, MD, PhD, Professor and Chair of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Byers Eye Institute at Stanford University, who will present: “Optic Nerve Regeneration: Translating Scientific Discoveries into Clinical Therapies”. The program also features special events such as a Startup Showcase, where trainees and companies pitch projects to senior faculty judges, and expert debates on next-generation therapeutics for major eye diseases.
