17th AOPT Scientific Meeting — Call for Host Proposals, 2027
Call for Next AOPT meetingDear AOPT Members and Global Colleagues,
The Association for Ocular Pharmacology and Therapeutics (AOPT) is pleased to invite preliminary applications from institutions and individuals interested in hosting the 17th AOPT Scientific Meeting in 2027.
As our community continues to expand the frontiers of ocular science, we seek a host city and organizing team capable of providing an inspiring environment for scientific exchange. This initial application phase focuses on the core logistical and organizational foundations of your bid.
Requirements for the Initial Application
Prospective hosts are requested to submit a proposal covering the following four critical areas.
Local Organizing Committee (LOC)
- Proposals must identify a dedicated committee led by a local organizer or academic chair.
- The committee should ideally represent a collaboration between local research universities, medical schools, or industry partners.
- Please include names, institutional affiliations, and brief roles for each committee member.
Proposed Timeframe
- AOPT meetings have traditionally been scheduled during the February/March window (e.g., March 11–14, 2027) or August window (e.g., August 5–8, 2027). Other timing will also be considered, depending on the number of similar meetings scheduled.
- When proposing dates, please consider local climate conditions and proximity to major cultural events that might influence attendance or travel costs.
Venue and Facilities
- Identify a primary meeting venue, such as a high-standard conference hotel, an academic medical center, or other suitable options.
- The venue must offer a main plenary room capable of classroom-style seating and a dedicated area for scientific poster sessions and exhibits.
- Provide details on onsite or nearby accommodation options, aiming for a block of more than 150 guest rooms at negotiated conference rates.
Preliminary Budget Outline
A high-level estimated budget is required to ensure the financial viability of the meeting. This should include:
- Venue costs — estimated daily rental for meeting and exhibition spaces.
- Catering — per-person estimates for coffee breaks, lunches, and a welcome reception.
- Accommodation — projected nightly rates for single and double occupancy rooms.
- External funding — note any potential grants or marketing support from local tourism boards or government agencies.
Why Host AOPT 2027?
Hosting this meeting brings international prestige to your institution and highlights your city as a hub for ophthalmic innovation. It is an unparalleled opportunity to foster global networking and showcase your local research community to the world's leading ocular pharmacologists.
We look forward to receiving your proposals and working together to make the 2027 meeting a landmark success.
Best regards,
The AOPT Board of Directors
